About

My name is Danielle Petri and I am a student at Clarkstown North High School. My goal while taking photography this year is to show, through photographs, my interests and my style of photography. Everyone has their own way and style of taking photos, and I want this website to demonstrate my techniques and routines that I normally use. In addition, I want people who view my work to be inspired themselves.

I’ve had a lot of inspiration over the past few years, starting with my mom. She had always wanted to be a photographer herself, but never got around to accomplishing that goal. So, when she gave me her old camera, I was inspired to go after my own goal. In addition to her, a lot of my other influences came from the internet. I would scroll through tumblr and see a variety of different photos, each displaying different ways to take a picture. I remember thinking to myself, “I want to do that too”, so I did. At first I only took stereotypical types of pictures, of flowers and water and the sky, but once I began my photography class, I learned that there’s a lot more to it than just having a picture “look nice”. Learning about the different techniques used in taking professional photos further inspired me to take better, more noteworthy pictures. They still have that whole “artsy” and “nature-like” feel to them, but they have improved greatly compositionally.

Throughout this website you will find my best and favorite works, including pictures I have even taken outside of class. I do hope my pictures inspire others to pursue their own artistic passion as I had with mine.
